3-Hour Obsolete Fan Rescue for Oregon RV Production Line

The Challenge

An Oregon RV manufacturer was upgrading an older blower-fan assembly to a current-model replacement across their production line.

The Problem

No CAD existed for the new fan or its mounting envelope.  The supplier had no drawings and quoted 4–6 weeks to create them.  Production of 2025 units would be delayed if they waited.  They needed a drop-in solution fast, fully validated, and immediately entered into their ERP system so purchasing could order the correct hardware.

Our Solution – Same-Day Turnaround

We picked up the new fan assembly the moment it landed via FedEx in Redmond, brought our portable 3D scanning kit to the production floor, and delivered everything they needed in a single afternoon:

  • On-site laser scanning of the complete new fan + shroud assembly

  • Full reverse-engineering into production-ready CAD (native Fusion + STEP)

  • Digital integration into the existing RV chassis model to verify fitment and clearance

  • Added PEM nuts, gaskets, and mounting provisions

  • Generated 2D drawings

  • Worked directly with their engineering and materials team to create the new part number and update the BOM in their ERP system

Total time from pickup to ERP-ready: 3 hours.

The Results

  • Zero impact on production scheduling

  • 2025-model units stayed on track

  • The new fan assembly is now fully documented and purchasable today instead of next month
